We love sunscreen, and we love a good story, so it's no surprise that Suntegrity is one of our favorite new products. Suntegrity founder Tricia Trimble got interested in the sunscreen business after her mother died of skin cancer. Hardly a sun-worshipper, Tricia's mother got melanoma on her left hand, from resting it on the window while driving a car. Though Tricia became deeply passionate about sunscreen, she realized after years of working as a CPA that she wasn't feeling passionate about her career, so she enrolled in a master's program in spiritual psychology, health, and healing. Her thesis project centered on healing the grief around her mom, and from that, Suntegrity was born. Says Trimble of her sunscreen line: "It protects people. They put it on every day, and they think of someone they love and lost."
An esthetician who also started Beauty Intuition, Trimble had never found a sunscreen she thought was the best, so she hired a chemist and set out to create the ideal formulation. It worked: Suntegrity earned the highest possible rating in the Environmental Working Group's 2010 Sunscreen Report. The zinc-based, moisturizing face and body sunscreens contain no petrochemicals and smell lightly and deliciously of citrus. At Tricia's suggestion, I've been wearing the sunscreen over my moisturizer, and it makes a perfect foundation primer. Suntegrity's line also includes a dietary supplement that contains vitamin D and strengthens the body's ability to protect itself against UV damage. Pick up a Sun Set and get all three Suntegrity products in one (sun)shiny bundle.
